A fan coil unit (FCU) is a heat exchange device consisting of a heat exchanger coil and a forced-air fan. Fan coil units circulate hot or cold water through circuits built into the coils and move air in the room to heat or cool the air to condition the space. Under the condition
of a Hofmann heat pump, hot or cold water would circulate in the coil, to remove or add heat to the air through heat transfer.
Speed control of the fan motor within the fan coil is effectively used to control the desired heating and cooling output from the unit. Hofmann offers a wide range of fan coils in a variety of styles with DC motors available.
